What happened?
Lamborghini’s long-awaited first fully electric car, the Lanzador EV, has been officially removed from production plans. It was expected to launch around 2028/2029, but the company will no longer produce it.
❓ Why was it canceled?
According to CEO Stephan Winkelmann:
Lamborghini’s typical customers show little interest in fully electric vehicles — demand is “almost zero.”
Super-luxury supercar buyers value engine sound and performance experiences, which current EV technology cannot fully provide.
Developing a fully electric car would be a “costly hobby” for the company.
🔄 What about the future?
The Lanzador concept will now be launched as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
By 2030, all Lamborghini models are planned to feature hybrid powertrains.
The company also aims to continue producing traditional internal combustion engines as long as possible.
